Children’s Fundamental Rights

The Apostles Children Home believes and makes sure that each and every child at our Home has all of the following fundamental rights:

  1. The right to live or stay in contact with their parents whenever possible unless this could cause them harm.
  2. The right to the best possible living environment including clean water, nutritious food, quality education and healthcare.
  3. The right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities.
  4. The right to guidance and direction from a caring adult in order for them to develop to their full potential.
  5. The right to protection from all forms of violence, abuse and neglect from anyone including their parents.
  6. The right to a private life and space where they can be alone and protection from unlawful attacks that harm their reputation.
  7. The right to equal opportunities and protection from discrimination.
  8. The right to reliable and understandable information from a variety of sources and to protection from harmful information.
  9. The right to express their thoughts, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them.
  10. The right to believe and practice their religion, as long as they are not stopping other people from enjoying their rights.
